Seven Stages of Grief

Shock and Denial: Initial disbelief and emotional numbness as the mind struggles to accept the reality of the loss.

Pain and Guilt: The emergence of deep sadness, remorse, and regret as the shock wears off.

Anger and Bargaining: Frustration directed at oneself, others, or a higher power, often accompanied by “what if” thoughts to regain control.

Depression: A period of isolation, loneliness, and reflection as the full weight of the loss sets in.

The Upward Turn: A gradual shift toward calmness and acceptance, where the intensity of negative emotions begins to decrease.

Reconstruction and Processing: Actively rebuilding one’s life, finding new coping strategies, and integrating the loss into one’s sense of self.

Acceptance and Hope: Coming to terms with the reality of the loss, finding meaning, and looking forward to the future with a sense of hope, though sadness may remain.
